A Rights Based Approach is taken in both Welsh schools based on such tenants as UNICEF’s 45 Articles on the Rights of the Child; focusing on one of these per half term in classrooms, assemblies, subject topics, class presentations etc. These rights are put into practice in school via the Student Council, the Green School committee, class charters, playground police and restorative practices.
Then the rights based approach moves out to the community via Student Council, Green School committee and various class groups as they target global citizenship concerns, campaigns, fundraising and awareness raising.
